Completely wrong. Strong disagreement from me. Decapitated chickens have better takes than this.

Those "meanwhile" bullet points contain some of the most well refined, hyperprocessed tripe I've seen in a long time.

There are a few bars in Ottawa, but the politicians usually hit them AFTER work.

"Watch politicians in parliament. Those drunk bastards are constantly name-calling each other — intoxicated, sexist, chauvinistic, prejudiced fucks going at each other without censorship and yet here we are :"

Maybe the Australian Parliament is like that, but the Canadian one is a little different:

A few weeks ago, the Leader of the Opposition used a word meant to demean a person's mental capacity to describe the Prime Minister. The Speaker ordered him to retract the statement, since you aren't supposed to accuse another Member of being non compos mentis. The Opposition leader refused, and the Speaker ordered him to leave. So he did, and some of his caucus went out with him in protest.

(To be fair, the Speaker in question was put in office by the Government and another party, not the Opposition, and they clearly hate him (possibly because he's a Black man?). But still, the House is one of the few places in Canada where disrespect is (rightly) not tolerated...).

In Australia, there's a bar right outside Parliament where they all get pissed up before a debate. Its kind of on-brand for Australia where as the respect seems on-brand for Canada maybe? 😆

I will take your drunken Aussie pols over the bloated turds in our Congress anyday, Frank. Epic post and most epic Twain quote.

You won't get any push back from me. After about three and a half decades in industry, two of them offshore I had a struggle to become domesticated for office life. Apparently calling bullshit was bad form. Meanwhile breathtaking incompetence is to be tolerated, nurtured even, and apparently, 'get off your phone you lazy cunt' is in some contexts, insensitive. Well everyday is a school day. I do see what you mean on here and have found myself, much to my chagrin, substituting a 'BS' when originally it was 'bullshit'. In my defence, I do manage to avoid those coteries where there is a tacit agreement not to contradict each other, but that is by default. They won't have me.

Fighting in parliament looks cathartic as fuck. You’d think with such a healthy outlet they’d find a way to run the country better, but- 😅

I catch a glimpse of this feeling while occasionally talking some trash at people I kill on call of duty. Imagining this kind of culture in a writing space honestly seems kind of fun. To an extent.
